AWARD WINNING CHILDREN’S PERFORMER JAKE OFFERS MUSICAL FUN AT PETERBOROUGH MUSEUM SUMMER DISCOVERY CHILDREN’S CAMP JULY 5- 9 & AUGUST 23 - 27!

May 31, 2010 -- Music By Jake is pleased to announce that award-winning children’s musician JAKE DIFFER is once again offering summer musical fun and learning as part of Peterborough Museum & Archives’ Summer Discovery Children’s Camps for children 7 – 11. Jake will lead two week-long programs: “More Musical Maniacs” July 5 – 9 and “Musical Maestros” Aug 23 – 27.

Jake’s “Making Music With Jake” camp was a popular addition to the museum’s Summer Discovery program in 2009, and Jake’s March Break “Musical Maniacs” camp was sold out. Marie O’Connor, Education Director at Peterborough Museum & Archives enthused: "Kids, parents and educators were thrilled… Campers were kept busy and happy creating their own musical instruments and groovin' to the beat. Jake's winning personality put the children at ease and brought out the best in budding young musicians who sampled musical styles from around the world." “I’m really looking forward to this summer’s camps,” says Jake. “Kids and music are made for each other, and we will have a lot of fun together, trying out instruments, learning about rhythm, listening to music from around the world, and experimenting with the sound system.”

JAKE DIFFER is an award-winning children’s songwriter and recording artist and has toured extensively across Canada. Apart from leading the museum camps this summer, Jake will be performing at festivals in BC and Ontario and leading children on a “Jungle Walk With Jake” at libraries across Ontario. Jake’s CD HAPPY ALL OF THE TIME was nominated for a Juno Award for “Children’s Album of the Year”, and he has earned Parents’ Choice Awards for his three albums, including Parents’ Choice Gold for TAKE A LITTLE RIDE WITH ME. His most recent CD ZIGGY ZAGGY ROAD features the Peterborough Children’s Chorus, along with many award-winning musicians. A video of Jake’s song “My Garden” was released on Earth Day, April 22, 2010 and can be seen on YouTube. Jake lives in Peterborough with his wife and two children.

SUMMER DISCOVERY CHILDREN'S CAMPS are presented by the Peterborough Museum & Archives, with programs for children ages 7 – 11. The cost for one week is $150. Book online, visit the museum in person or call the Museum with a credit card (743-5180). See attached posters for more information about Jake’s programs.
